2. MMA Capital Management LLC (NASDAQ:MMAC)
The interesting thing about MMA is their book value is $21.34, most recently, and they actually have some off-balance-sheet items that are probably $7-plus per share. At the same time, they have been buying back shares hand over fist over the last five years and now have a new repurchase program for 2017 where they’ll buy back another 8% of the shares.
3. FRMO Corp. (OTCMKTS:FRMO)
FRMO is another fascinating company that Murray and Steve have built the assets from $200,000 to more than $100 million. In the asset management business, FRMO has an interest in a revenue sharing agreement with — which is now called Horizon Kinetics — has nearly $6 billion of AUM through mutual funds, private partnerships and managed accounts.
4. Sitestar Corporation (OTCMKTS:SYTE)
Sitestar is another interesting company. We bought it at or below book value and are looking for investment opportunities within that. It’s a legacy dial-up internet company that owns some real estate as well. Since we took over, we’ve created an additional subsidiary where we provide HVAC, heating, air conditioning solutions in Phoenix, Arizona, through a partner.
