WILLIAM MICHAEL WARREN JR. is Chairman, President and Chief Executive
Officer of Energen Corporation and CEO of Energen's two major
subsidiaries, Alabama Gas Corporation and Energen Resources Corporation.
Prior to joining Alabama Gas in 1983, Mr. Warren practiced law with the
Birmingham firm of Bradley, Arant, Rose and White. Named President of
Alabama Gas in 1984, Mr. Warren held a number of increasingly important
positions with Energen before being named CEO of Energen and all its
subsidiaries in 1997. He was elected Chairman of the Board in January
1998. Active in industry affairs, he served as Chairman of the American
Gas Association in 2002. He also is a past Chairman of the Southern Gas
Association and a former trustee of the Institute of Gas Technology. He
presently serves on the Board of the Gas Technology Institute and is a
Director of Associated Electric & Gas Insurance Services Limited
industry. Mr. Warren also is a member of Protective Life Corporation's
Board of Directors and a Trustee of Birmingham-Southern College. Mr.
Warren holds a BA degree from Auburn University and earned a Law degree
