WILLIAM G. CURRIE, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
Universal Forest Products, Inc., joined the company in 1971. He advanced
rapidly from sales representative to eastern regional sales manager to
Executive Vice President to President, and in 1989 was named CEO. He has
played a key role in Universal's rise from a lumber wholesaler to the
largest producer of roof trusses in North America, and the largest
processor of pressure-treated lumber in the world. When he took over as
President in 1983, Universal's sales were $63 million. Sales are now
over $2.4 billion dollars a year. Universal has 96 plants throughout the
United States, Canada, and Mexico. He graduated from Hope College in
Holland, Michigan, with a degree in Business Administration. Profile
