WAYNE F. WILBANKS serves as Managing Principal and Chief Investment
Officer of Wilbanks, Smith & Thomas Asset Management, LLC, and chairs
the firm's Investment Committee. Prior to founding the firm, he co-
founded a regional investment advisory firm where he served as Senior
Portfolio Manager and Director of Research. Mr. Wilbanks has over 20
years of investment experience and extensive training in both the equity
and fixed income disciplines. He began his career as futures trader with
Clayton Brokerage Company in Chicago and Dallas. He assisted F. Jeffris
Elliott in publishing the Elliott Report, a top ranked fundamental and
technical market timing service. Mr. Wilbanks is quoted often in
numerous news media including Bloomberg News, The Wall Street Journal,
Bond Week, Dow Jones News Wire and The Virginian Pilot. He is a regular
guest on Bloomberg Financial News and has appeared on CNBC's Taking
Stock. Mr. Wilbanks graduated from Duke University with a degree in
Economics with additional study at Georgetown University's Program of
Comparative Business at Oxford University in England. He is a Chartered
Financial Analyst and a member of the Richmond Society of Financial
Analysts. Mr. Wilbanks holds appointed positions on the Treasury Board
of the State of Virginia and the Eastern Virginia Medical School Board
of Trustees. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Advisors of the Duke
University Marine Lab and is an ex-officio member of the Board of
visitors of Duke's Nicholas School of the Environment. Mr. Wilbanks is a
member of the Norfolk Academy Board of Visitors. He is also on the Board
