WALTER (WALT) R. YOUNG, JR., was elected President and Chief Executive
Officer of Champion Enterprises, Inc., in April 1990. He was appointed
Chairman of the Board in May 1992, and has served on the board of
directors since 1990. From 1987 to 1990, Mr. Young was associated with
The Henley Group, where he led the turnaround of The Wheelabrator Corp.,
an international company involved in industrial surface treatment
equipment, parts and service. From 1983 to 1987, he was responsible for
sales, manufacturing and distribution for four autonomous subsidiaries
of The Budd Company, a manufacturer of automotive and heavy-duty OEM and
aftermarket components. From 1968 to 1983, Mr. Young held a variety of
positions with B.F. Goodrich, including Vice President and General
Manager and Vice President of Marketing Services, and is credited with
turning around their European tire operations, North American retail
chain and various chemical operations. Mr. Young holds a BA in Liberal
Arts from Muskingum College and MBA in management and marketing from
