WALTER M. PRESSEY is President and Chief Financial Officer of Boston
Private Financial Holdings, Inc. and is Executive Vice President of its
subsidiary, Boston Private Bank and Trust Company, where he has been
since September 1996. Prior to joining BPFH, Mr. Pressey served in
various senior executive capacities with Boston Safe Deposit and Trust
Company and its parent, The Boston Company. His career at The Boston
Company spanned 26 years and included, among other assignments:
Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of The Boston Company and its
subsidiaries, Chief Planning Officer of The Boston Company, and Manager
of Cash Management Services. Mr. Pressey serves as Vice Chairman and
Treasurer on the Board of Trustees of the Center for Blood Research, a
non-profit medical research firm affiliated with the Harvard Medical
School and Children's Hospital in Boston. He also is President of the
Board of Governors of the Harvard Business School Alumni Association of
Boston and a Director of the Harvard Alumni Association. Formerly, Mr.
Pressey was President of the Treasurers Club, Director of the Financial
Executives Institute of Boston, and served as Founder, Director and
Treasurer of the Foundation for Belmont Education. He also was Director
and Treasurer of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. Mr. Pressey
holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Harvard
Graduate School of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Chemistry from the University of Vermont. He served as a First
Lieutenant with the US Army Chemical Corps at Edgewood Arsenal in
