Christopher J. Reading joined U.S. Physical Therapy, Inc. (USPH) as Chief Operating Officer in 2003, and in 2004, he was promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer, and elected to the board of directors of the company. Prior to joining USPH, Mr. Reading served in a variety of roles at HealthSouth Corporation from 1990 until 2003, including Senior Vice President of Operations, where he focused on operations, acquisitions and development across a service area, including outpatient rehabilitation, ambulatory surgery, diagnostic imaging and inpatient rehabilitation hospitals. Mr. Reading graduated magna cum laude from the Medical College of Virginia with a B.S. in physical therapy in 1985. He enjoyed a long clinical career in sports medicine before ultimately migrating toward the business and development side of ambulatory health care. Mr. Reading is a devoted father of five great kids, and he and his wife, Sherri, are active in adoption and orphan-care ministries.
