TRACIE RAMSDALE is one of the founders of Alchemia Limited and has led
the company's development as its General Manager and Chief Executive
Officer. Tracie joined the Board of Directors in July 2003. Since
Alchemia's inception, she has been responsible for raising over $26
million in venture capital funding, negotiating Alchemia's alliances
with Dow and APP, and recruiting Alchemia's senior management team. Dr.
Ramsdale led the company through its successful initial public offering
in December 2003. She was originally trained as a synthetic organic
chemist, obtaining a Master of Pharmacy degree from the Victorian
College of Pharmacy and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of
Queensland. She has extensive experience in research management and
technology commercialization. Before establishing Alchemia, she was a
Principal Investigator and Commercial Manager of the Centre for Drug
Design and Development at the University of Queensland (Institute for
Molecular Bioscience). Prior to this, she held research appointments at
the Victorian College of Pharmacy and Bond University. She is a member
of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and serves on the
Queensland Biotechnology Advisory Council and the federal government's
