THOMAS H. VAN WEELDEN is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
Allied Waste Industries, Inc. Mr. Van Weelden joined the company in
January 1992 as its Vice President - Development, and was promoted to
President and Chief Operating Officer in December 1992. Mr. Van Weelden
was promoted to Chief Executive Officer in July 1997 and was appointed
Chairman of the Board of Directors in December 1998. He was first
