THOMAS E. MOLONEY is Senior Executive Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer of John Hancock Financial Services, Inc. He is
a member of Hancock's eight-person Policy Committee, which sets
strategic direction for the company. Mr. Moloney has held the
position of Chief Financial Officer since 1992. In addition to
his duties as CFO, he manages the Maritime Life Assurance
Company, Hancock's Canadian subsidiary and Canada's seventh
largest life insurer. In 2000, Mr. Moloney assumed responsibility
for the Guaranteed and Structured Financial Products division.
His other responsibilities include Real Estate Operations, which
encompasses property management, leasing and security. Since
joining the company in 1965, Mr. Moloney has held various
positions in the Controller's department. He was named Assistant
Controller in 1981 and Associate Controller in 1983. He was
elected Second Vice President and Controller in 1982 and Vice
President and Controller in 1985, rising to Senior Vice President
and Controller in 1989. Mr. Moloney serves as a member of the
Board of Directors of eight of John Hancock's subsidiaries, is
the Chairman of three, and Chairs several Audit Committees. He
