THOMAS L. KEMP joined Penton Media, Inc. as its Chief Executive Officer
in 1996. Mr. Kemp's publishing career spans more than 25 years. He spent
22 years with San Francisco based Miller Freeman, Inc., and was Miller
Freeman's President & COO in 1996, when he left the company to join
Penton. From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Kemp was Miller Freeman's Executive Vice
President & COO. He also held a series of executive, publishing
management and sales positions with Miller Freeman since he joined the
company in 1974. Mr. Kemp is a Director and Treasurer of Business
Publications Audit (BPA) International and a Member of the
organization's Executive Committee. He is a Director of the Business
Press Educational Foundation, and a Former Director of the American
Business Press (ABP) and the Association of Medical Publishers. A
frequent speaker at publishing industry events, Mr. Kemp has presented
at the Folio: Show Magazine Conference, Folio: s M2 Magazine Management
Conference, ABP's Top Management and Spring Conferences, Society of
Professional Journalists and the American Society of Business Press
Editors. In January 1998, Mr. Kemp was named runner-up Business
Publisher Of The Year by The Delaney Report, an international newsletter
for marketing, advertising, and media executives. Mr. Kemp was named
1997 Business Magazine Person of the Year. Mr. Kemp graduated Cum Laude
with a Bachelor's degree from Amherst College in 1973. Profile
