TERRY L. SHEPHERD is Chief Executive Officer of St. Jude Medical, Inc.,
and a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Shepherd joined St. Jude
Medical as President of the St. Jude Medical Division (now known as the
Cardiac Surgery Division) in September 1994. Under his leadership, St.
Jude Medical has expanded its global product portfolio to include
mechanical and tissue heart valves, pacemakers, implantable cardioverter
defibrillators (ICDs), catheters, and anastomotic connectors for bypass
surgery. Mr. Shepherd has 22 years of progressive worldwide experience
as a medical device executive, working for St. Jude Medical, Eli Lilly
and Company, Cardiac Pacemakers, and Hybritech, in several different
functional areas and in many locations throughout the world. He received
a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Purdue University
and an MBA in Finance and International Business from Indiana
