TERRANCE EGGER was named publisher of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on
July 21, 1999. He had been General Manager of the newspaper and has
served as a Vice President of the parent company, Pulitzer, Inc., since
1996. Prior to joining the Post-Dispatch, he was Vice President of
advertising for Tucson Newspapers, the agency for the Arizona Daily
Star, a Pulitzer subsidiary, and the Tucson Citizen. Previously, he had
worked for Copley Los Angeles Newspapers as Marketing Services Manager
and then Advertising Director. Mr. Egger earned his Bachelor of Arts
degree from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and his
Master's degree in Speech Communications from San Diego State

MARK G. CONTRERAS was named Vice President of Pulitzer, Inc. and Senior
Vice President of Pulitzer Newspapers, Inc. Newspapers, Inc.) on
February 19, 1999. Prior to this position, he worked for Knight Ridder,
Inc., as Publisher and President of The Times Leader in Wilkes-Barre,
Pennsylvania. He had previously held a marketing position, Metro
Circulation Manager and Retail Display Director, before joining Knight
Ridder, Inc. Mr. Contreras earned his undergraduate degree in History
from the University of Chicago and an MBA from the Harvard Business

ALAN SILVERGLAT has been Senior Vice President, Finance, of Pulitzer,
Inc., since September 2001. He assumed his most recent position as
Corporate Vice President/Treasurer of Knight Ridder, a media company
with headquarters in San Jose, California, in 1995. From 1980 through
1995, he served as Senior Vice President/Finance and Administration and
Chief Financial Officer for Knight Ridder's Business Information
Division based in Kansas City, Missouri. Prior to joining Knight Ridder,
Mr. Silverglat was with Ernst & Young in Kansas City. Mr. Silverglat is
a Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of the University of
