STEPHEN J. FANNING has been a member of the Board of Ocular Sciences,
Inc., since August 13, 2001 when he was appointed as President and Chief
Executive Officer of the company. He succeeded John Fruth, the company's
founder and interim CEO, who continues as the Chairman of the Board. Mr.
Fanning joined the company from Johnson & Johnson, one of the world's
largest manufacturers of healthcare products, where he served in various
senior executive positions for 25 years, most recently as President,
Worldwide, of J&J's McNeil Specialty Products division, where he was
responsible for all business functions including sales, marketing, R&D
and operations. Prior to that, he served as President of Johnson &
Johnson Medical, a medical device company, where he completed a
successful turnaround, restoring sustained profitability through
numerous initiatives including new product development and improved
manufacturing efficiency. Mr. Fanning has also served as Managing
Director of J&J Austria/Switzerland, and Vice President, Sales, of J&J's
McNeil Consumer Products Division. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree
