Brien M. O’Brien is the Chairman and CEO of Port Capital LLC, a Chicago-based asset management firm. Mr. O’Brien has spent much of his 35-year career building and leading successful investment management firms. He initially learned the benefits of value investing at Oppenheimer & Co. in the early 1980s. Following several years at Bear Stearns, he founded a consulting and asset management business that later grew into Advisory Research, Incorporated, a $12.5 billion asset management firm that he sold to Piper Jaffray in 2010. Following the sale to Piper Jaffray, Mr. O’Brien continued as Chairman and CEO of Advisory Research until his departure in 2014.
