STEVEN M. RAUSCHER is President and Chief Executive Officer of Oscient
Pharmaceuticals Corporation. He has been a director since 1993 and
joined the company full-time as President and Chief Executive Officer in
2000. Before joining Oscient Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Rauscher spent 18
years at Abbott Laboratories, serving in a variety of key leadership
positions including Vice President for Corporate Licensing; Vice
President of Business Development; Vice President of Sales U.S.
Pharmaceutical Products Division; Director of Strategic Planning for
Pharmaceutical Products; and General Manager, Abbott West Indies.
Following his time at Abbott, Mr. Rauscher served as CEO of
AmericasDoctor, a company that provides clinical research and marketing
services to the pharmaceutical industry. Mr. Rauscher holds an MBA from

SCOTT RIFKIN, MD, is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors
of AmericasDoctor.com. Dr. Rifkin founded AmericasDoctor.com in
September 1998 when it became an anchor tenant on the America Online
Health Channel (keyword: AmDoc). The AmericasDoctor.com Web site was
launched in March 1999 and has since become one the most recognized
health information destinations on the Internet. Dr. Rifkin is a native
of the Baltimore area where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Biology
from the University of Maryland's Baltimore County Campus. He graduated

certified in Internal Medicine and has a private practice in Owings
