George L. Ball is the Chairman and CEO of Sanders Morris Harris Group Inc. SMHG's subsidiaries and affiliates deliver wealth advisory and asset management services to institutional investors and to high net worth and mass affluent households. The firm's longstanding philosophy of "investment in common" reflects its commitment to aligning its interests with those of its clients. A Director of the firm since 1992, Mr. Ball began his career by serving two years in the United States Navy after earning an economics degree at Brown University. After leaving the military, he joined E.F. Hutton & Co. as a Stockbroker. He became Regional Vice President, Director of Research, and then National Sales Manager before being named President at the age of 39. He left E.F. Hutton to become CEO of Bache & Company, which had been acquired by Prudential Insurance Company of America. By the time he left the firm, Prudential Bache had grown to become the fourth largest securities firm in the United States. Mr. Ball appears frequently on CNBC and other television networks. He is a Former Governor of the American Stock Exchange and the Chicago Board Options Exchange, and he served on the executive committee of the Securities Industries and Financial Markets Association.
