MICHAEL TIEU leads the Southwest Securities software team, and since
2001, has focused his research on the Internet security sector. Prior
to this, he was both an operations manager and an entrepreneur in the
hospitality industry for more than 12 years. Profile
JOSEPH C. CRAIGEN, CFA, covers companies in the information security
and infrastructure management sectors for Needham & Company. Mr.
Craigen joined Needham & Company in March 2001 from Tucker Anthony,
where he worked in the areas of enterprise software, semiconductor
equipment and consulting. He previously played professional hockey with
the Peoria Rivermen and the Huntington Blizzard of the East Coast Hockey
League. Mr. Craigen earned his AB in Economics from Harvard University.
He is a member of AIMR and the Boston Security Analysts Society. Profile
FREDERICK ZIEGEL, CFA, has more than 30 years of experience following a
wide range of technology industries, most recently concentrating on
security and application management companies. He is currently employed
by Mackinac Research LLC, a research organization affiliated with Soleil
Securities Group, a leading provider of independent research to
institutional investors. Mr. Ziegel was a Managing Director for the
technology research business unit at Tucker Anthony Sutro Capital
Markets. He was a founding partner of Punk, Ziegel & Knoll, an
investment boutique focused on technology and health care, where he was
Director of Research while also following communications and networking
companies. Prior to that, he was a senior technology analyst at Needham
& Company and Salomon Brothers. Before coming to the sell side more than
20 years ago, Mr. Ziegel was a senior technology analyst at American
Express Financial Advisers Michigan State University and an MBA from
Eastern Michigan University. Profile
ALAN WEINFELD is a senior analyst at Kaufman Bros. LP, in the security
and applications software sector. Prior to joining Kaufman Bros., he was
a managing director covering primarily security software at Fulcrum
Global Partners, a leading independent research firm which had a
significant presence in the enterprise software arena serving
institutional clients. He was a financial analyst in Goldman Sachs'
Global Investment Research Division and a member of Institutional
Investor magazine's number two All-American research team. He also
worked in the research department of the technology venture capital firm
Tower Hill Capital Group. He graduated summa cum laude with a BBA in
Finance from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of
