Ron DeFeo is the Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and
President of Terex Corporation. Mr. DeFeo, 47, originally joined Terex
in May 1992 as President of the company's Heavy Equipment Group. A year
later, he also assumed responsibility for running Terex Corporation's
largest former subsidiary, Clark Material Handling Company, based in
Lexington, Kentucky. In October 1993, Mr. DeFeo was appointed Terex's
President and Chief Operating Officer and in March 1995, Chief Executive
Officer. Mr. DeFeo was named Chairman of the Board of Terex Corporation
in May 1998. Prior to joining Terex in 1992, he spent eight years with
Tenneco, Inc. in various senior managerial positions, most recently, as
Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the JI Case Construction
Equipment business in Europe. He began his professional career with
Procter & Gamble in brand management where he progressed through a
number on increasingly senior middle management positions between 1974,
when he joined the company, and 1984. Mr. DeFeo received a Bachelor's
degree in Economics and Philosophy from Iona College in New Rochelle,
New York in 1974. He is a member of the Board of Directors of United
Rentals, Inc. In addition, he serves on the Executive Committee and the
Board of Directors of the Construction Industry Manufacturers
Association (CIMA) and is co-Chairman of CONEXPO-CON/AGG. He is also a
