Robert E. Parsons, Jr., is currently Executive Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer of Host Marriott Corporation. He is responsible for
the company's corporate and project financing activities, investor and
shareholder relations, as well as the treasury, accounting, and tax
functions. Over the past two years, Mr. Parsons has been involved in
over $5 billion of capital market transactions, including raising over
$3 billion through new financings and the refinancing of $2 billion of
hotel-related financings. Prior to the formation of Host Marriott, Mr.
Parsons held various positions at Marriott Corporation, which he joined
in 1981. He has served as Manager of Corporate Financial Planning,
Manager of Corporate Strategy, Vice President of Project Finance,
Assistant Treasurer of Marriott Corporation, Treasurer of Host Marriott
Corporation and, in 1995, was elected Executive Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer of Host Marriott Corporation. Currently, Mr. Parsons
serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Excel Legacy Realty
Trust and Merrill Financial Corporation. In addition, he is a member of
IREFAC, is the Vice Chairman of the Hotel Development Council of the
Urban Land Institute, and is the Chairman of the Steering Committee of
the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University. He
obtained a Bachelor's Degree in accounting from Brigham Young University
and a Masters of Business Administration from the Marriott Graduate
