RICHARD H. MARSH has been Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of
FirstEnergy Corporation since 1998. He was vice President of Finance
from 1997 to 1998 and Treasurer until 1998. He is responsible for the
accounting, auditing, benefit investment, investor relations, rates,
shareholder services and treasury functions. Mr. Marsh received his
Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University, a Master of Arts in
Clinical Psychology and a Master of Business Administration from The
University of Akron. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified
Management Accountant. Mr. Marsh is Chairman of the Utility Pension Fund
Study Group and a member of the Cleveland Society of Security Analysts.
He is past President of United Disability Services in Akron and Family
Services of Summit County. He is a member of the Advancement Council of
the College of Business Administration at The University of Akron, Chair
of the Endowment Committee for the Western Reserve Girl Scout Council, a
Trustee of the FirstEnergy Foundation, and a Trustee of H. M. Life
