RICHARD A. BACHMANN, Founder of Energy Partners, Ltd., and its Chairman,
President and Chief Executive Officer, has over 30 years of financial
and operating experience in the energy industry. He began his career
with Exxon in 1968 where he held numerous domestic and international
treasury and financial responsibilities. In 1971 Mr. Bachmann was
promoted to Treasurer of Esso Central America's headquarters in San
Salvador, El Salvador. In 1974 he was promoted to manager of the
Foreign Finance Division of Exxon International, based in New York. In
1978, Mr. Bachmann left Exxon to join Itel Corporation. He served as
Vice President and Treasurer of this leveraged leasing company from 1978
to 1981. In 1981, Mr. Bachmann joined The Louisiana Land and Exploration
Company (LL&E), an independent exploration and production company, as
Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial
Officer. His accomplishments at LL&E included the strategic
repositioning of the company, divestiture of non-core assets and the
acquisition of new assets. He was elected to LL&E's Board of Directors
and promoted to Executive Vice President in 1989. Mr. Bachmann was later
named President and Chief Operating Officer in 1995. He left LL&E in
late 1997 and established EPL shortly thereafter. Mr. Bachmann earned a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Wisconsin State University
(magna cum laude) and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin. He
serves on the Board of Directors of Xavier University and Tulane
