RANDY WHITE joined Nanogen, Inc. as Chief Executive Officer in June 2001
and has been a Director of Nanogen since April 2001. Since 1998, Dr.
White has been Executive Vice President Technical, Operations and
Research and Development, at American Medical Laboratories, Inc. From
1992 to 1998, he was a consultant to a diverse group of diagnostic
clinics, including Unilab, Specialty Laboratories and California
Community Clinics, providing services relating to operational
efficiency, systems and cost improvement. From 1985 to 1992, he was
Executive Vice President of Operations for National Health Laboratories,
Inc., and for the prior 10 years served in various upper managerial and
operations roles with NHL. Dr. White received a BS and a PhD in
Chemistry from the University of Houston and completed postdoctoral
