R. RAY PATE, JR. is President and Chief Executive Officer of NCRIC
Group, Inc., a publicly traded company headquartered in Washington, DC
that provides medical professional liability insurance and practice
management and financial services to physicians in the mid-Atlantic
states. Mr. Pate serves on the Board of Directors of the company as well
as on the Boards of all of its subsidiaries. Mr. Pate has more than 15
years of experience in the field of professional liability insurance.
Prior to joining NCRIC, he spent three years with the Florida Physicians
Insurance Company (FPIC) as Vice President of the Health Care Facility
Division. Mr. Pate is a member of the Board of Directors of Health Care
Liability Alliance, a national advocacy coalition that supports
effective federal healthcare liability reform and the Tort Reform
Institute (TRI), an advocacy group formed in 1986 to assist in the
effort to achieve tort reform in the District of Columbia. In addition,
Mr. Pate serves on the Board of Directors of the Starlight Children's
Foundation mid-Atlantic, an organization dedicated to improving the
quality of life for seriously ill children. Mr. Pate's formal education
includes earning a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business
Administration from the University of Alabama and a Master's degree in
Public and Private Management from Birmingham-Southern College in
