GARY W. TAPP, PhD, is a Senior Vice President in the Equity Research
Department at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. He is responsible for the
firm's quantitative research, which includes a wide variety of products
and services for the firm's institutional and individual clients. He
publishes the STRHQ Correlations, a monthly research report that ranks
industry groups and stocks on a variety of proprietary quantitative
models, including the STRH Earnings Surprise model. A regular article in
the weekly STRH Equity Focus highlights his current quantitative work
and its implications for markets, sectors, and industry groups. He also
is responsible for the management of five model portfolios for STRH
clients. Mr. Tapp has been in the investment business with Robinson
Humphrey since 1984. Before that he was the senior editor for the
Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Economic Review. He received his
Bachelor's degree from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, in
1969, his Master's degree from Emory University in Atlanta in 1974 and
his PhD from Emory in 1975. He is a member of the Atlanta Economics Club
and participates as a mentor in the Georgia Industrial Fellowships for
Teachers program and the Georgia 100 mentorship program for women. Profile
