DAVID B. SMITH, a Vice President in the US equity division of Smith
Barney Inc., covering power technology and multi-industry companies,
joined the firm in early 1997. He is currently part of Smith Barney's
number one Institutional Investor ranked electrical equipment/multi-
industry research team. Prior to covering the power technology sector,
he was part of the number one machinery and engineering and construction
industry research team in the 1998 through 2000 Institutional Investor
annual ranking of Wall Street analysts. Prior to joining Smith Barney,
he served as a manager at Deloitte and Touche and a financial analyst at
Newcourt Credit Group in Toronto, Canada. He holds an undergraduate
degree from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada, an
honors degree in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University
in Waterloo, Canada, and is a Chartered Accountant and a CFA
charterholder. He has spent 11 years in the investment and finance
