PETER M. SCOTT III is Executive Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer of Progress Energy, inc. He oversees the
company's strategic planning, financial and enterprise risk
management functions. Before joining Progress Energy (formerly
CP&L), Mr. Scott was the founding President of Scott, Madden &
Associates, Inc., a general management consulting firm
headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina. The firm served clients
in a number of industries, including energy and
telecommunications. Particular practice area specialties for Mr.
Scott included strategic planning and operations management.
Before founding Scott, Madden & Associates in 1983, he was a
Principal and Partner in Theodore Barry & Associates, a Los
Angeles-based consulting firm. Mr. Scott is active in a number of
civic and non-profit organizations, including the North Carolina
Museum of Art Foundation Board, the Capital Area Soccer League,
and the RTI International Board. He holds Master's and
undergraduate degrees in Business Administration from The
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Profile
TWST: Could you describe the different components of ProgressEnergy?
Mr. Scott: As you know, Progress Energy is a utility holding
company. We are an integrated energy company with our
