PAUL R. SAUERACKER is Chairman of the Board, President and Chief
Executive Officer of Minerals Technologies Inc. Mr. Saueracker joined
the company in 1971 as a sales representative in Los Angeles. In 1973,
he moved to New York to become a Market Research Analyst. He assumed
positions of increasing responsibility, including Manager of Market
Research and Director of Sales and Marketing. In 1989, he became Vice
President, Sales and Marketing, Minerals. He was named President and CEO
of SMI in 1994 and a Senior Vice President of MTI in 1999. In 2000, he
was elected President of the Company and a member of the Board of
Directors. In October 2001, he was elected Chairman of the Board. Mr.
Saueracker holds a BA in Geology from Hunter College of the City
University of New York; an MS in Geology from the University of Kansas;
and an MBA in Marketing from Hofstra University. Before joining the
company, he served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy from 1966
to 1971. Mr. Saueracker serves on the Board of Directors of the National
Association of Manufacturers, is a past president of the Pulverized
Minerals Division of the National Sand, Stone and Gravel Association,
and is a member of the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper
Industry, and the Paper Industry Management Association. He is also a
member of the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Paper Science and
