R. CHARLES SHUFELDT is currently Executive Vice President, head of
Corporate and Investment Banking for SunTrust Banks, Inc., and CEO of
SunTrust Capital Markets, Inc. Previously he was Senior Vice President
in Corporate and Investment Banking, responsible for Industry
Specialties, Leasing, and Southeast Corporate Banking. Since joining
SunTrust in 1984 he has held senior positions in the Capital Markets,
Corporate Banking, and Corporate Finance areas. From 1976 to 1984, he
was a Manager in the National Banking Division of Brown Brothers
Harriman & Company in New York City, a private banking firm. He received
a BA from Washington & Lee University and an MA in International
Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International
Studies. Presently, he serves on the Board of Directors of the ABA
Securities Association (ABASA), the Board of The Atlanta Ballet, the
Board of the PATH Foundation, and the Advisory Board of Young Audiences
of Atlanta. Mr. Shufeldt is the former Chairman of the District 7
