Steven Baumgarten joined the Equity Research Department of
Parker/Hunter, Incorporated, in July 1999. His focus is on consumer
electronics, discount and home improvement retailers, as well as small
to mid-sized Pennsylvania-based companies. He was recognized as a Five
Star Analyst for the retail industry in 2003 by Zacks Investment
Research and a Four Star Analyst in 2001. Before joining the firm for a
second time, he worked at Prudential Securities where he co-managed a
portfolio of stocks using technical and quantitative models. During this
time, he was a guest lecturer at the New York Institute of Finance.
Prior to his three-year stint in New York, he was a member of
Parker/Hunter's Portfolio Management Department. As a teenager, he had
numerous equity-related internships including working on the American
Stock Exchange trading floor. Originally from New Jersey, he chose to
stay in Pittsburgh after receiving his MBA in Finance from the Katz
Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. He also
attended the University of Pittsburgh for his undergraduate studies,
where he received a BA in Economics and Business as well as a
Certificate in Accounting. He is an active member in the University of
Pittsburgh's Alumni Association and also enjoys bowling, skiing, jogging
