MICHAEL J. HEGARTY joined Flushing Savings Bank in August 1995 as
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and was
elected President and Chief Executive Officer on October 1, 1998.
He has been a member of the bank's Board of Directors since 1987.
Mr. Hegarty is President and Chief Executive Officer of Flushing
Financial Corporation, the bank's holding company, and sits on
the Board of Directors of both the bank and Flushing Financial
Corporation. Prior to joining Flushing Savings Bank he was
employed by EDO Corporation from 1966 and served for a number of
years as their Chief Financial Officer, Vice President,
Secretary, Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors and
is still currently a member of the Board. A Certified Public
Accountant, Mr. Hegarty is a graduate of Manhattan College, class
of 1961. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the
Community Bankers Association of New York State. He is currently
a Director of the Financial Executive International's Long Island
Chapter and had served as Chapter President in 1993. He is a
member of the New York State Society of Certified Public
Accountant's, the Institute of Management Accountants and the
