LONNIE C. POOLE, JR. is the Chief Executive Officer of Waste Industries,
Inc. He founded Waste Industries in 1970 and is a past-President. Prior
to joining this firm he was a Sales Manager at Koehring Co. (1968-1970)
and an Engineer at Ingersoll Rand (1964-1968) as well as a First
Lieutenant Aviator in the United States Army (1960-1963). Mr. Poole is a
graduate of North Carolina State University where he earned a B.S. in
Civil Engineering and has a M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill. He is active in numerous civic organizations, most
recently as a Trustee of Environmental Industry Associations
(1993-1996); Trustee, Trinity Baptist Church Foundation (1988-Present);
Director, NCSU Foundation (1997-Present). He and his wife, Carol Lynn,
have two sons, Ven and Scott. Profile
