COLIN DEVINE is a Managing Director within Smith Barney's research
division, responsible for providing equity research coverage on a
diverse group of North American life insurance companies. He has been
ranked number one in the life insurance equity research category of the
Institutional Investor 2000, 2001 and 2002 All America Research team. He
also received a number one ranking in the recent 2003 Wall Street
Journal 'Best on the Street' poll and was one of Fortune magazine's 2003
All-Star Analysts. Prior to joining Smith Barney in March 1997, he was a
Director in Standard & Poor's Insurance Ratings group, where he covered
a variety of life and property and casualty insurers. Preceding that, he
was a Vice President of a major Canadian life insurer, where he was
involved in investment and risk management, as well as a number of
corporate development initiatives. Mr. Devine is a Chartered Financial
Analyst and Certified Management Accountant, and holds an MBA in Finance
from York University in Toronto and a BSc in Biology from the University

TWST: What has gone on with the life insurance stocks year to date?Mr. Devine: Year to date the life insurance stocks have held their own
versus the S&P 500 Index, after underperforming
