LEWIS HAY III is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of FPL
Group, Inc., one of the nation's leading electricity-related
services companies. He was elected CEO in June 2001 and elected
Chairman in January 2002. Florida Power & Light Company is FPL
Group's principal subsidiary and serves approximately 8 million
people along the eastern seaboard and the southern portion of
Florida. FPL is one of the largest electric utilities in the
nation. Another subsidiary, FPL Energy, LLC, is one of the
fastest growing independent power producers with a presence in 19
states. The company's FPL FiberNet, LLC, business provides fiber
optic systems and services in Florida and the Southeast region.
Mr. Hay joined FPL Group as Chief Financial Officer in August
1999. In March 2000 he was appointed President of FPL Energy.
Prior to joining FPL Group, Mr. Hay served as Executive Vice
President and Chief Financial Officer of US Foodservice, one of
the largest foodservice distributors in the US with sales in
excess of $6 billion. Before his association with US Foodservice,
Mr. Hay was Senior Vice President and a partner at Mercer
Management Consulting (formerly Strategic Planning Associates),
where he led the firm's Washington, DC-based strategy practice.
Mr. Hay received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical
Engineering from Lehigh University in 1977 and a Master of
Science degree in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon
University in 1982. He serves on the Board of Harris Corporation,
is a member of the Dean's Advisory Council at Carnegie Mellon
University's Graduate School of Industrial Administration, and a
member of the Florida Council of 100. Most recently, Mr. Hay was
elected to the Board of Directors of the Institute of Nuclear
Power Operations (INPO), which encompasses all US commercial
