Leland Grubb Jr. – Thomas Group Inc (tgis)

LELAND (LEE) L. GRUBB, JR. joined Thomas Group, Inc. in 1995 following 26 years with General Motors and Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC). Mr. Grubb started as Chief Financial Officer and in 1996 assumed the dual role of President of the Automotive Practice. In March of 2001 Thomas Group hired another CFO so Mr. Grubb could spend full time developing the automotive business. Mr. Grubb started his career on the corporate financial staff of General Motors in 1968 and was transferred to the Detroit Diesel Allison Division (DDA) of GM in 1974. He initiated DDA's international operations in 1976, living in England from 1976 to 1978 as Manager of European Finance, with the responsibility of rationalizing DDA's pricing and policies. In 1978 Mr. Grubb returned to Detroit as Director of International Finance to complete the changes to DDA on a worldwide basis. Mr. Grubb then held positions in divisional cost accounting, pricing and special studies until his appointment as assistant controller in 1984. In 1987 Mr. Grubb led the sale of the engine portion of DDA to Penske Corporation, forming Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC), and held the position of Chief Financial Officer of DDC from 1988 until 1995. During his tenure at DDC he reestablished international operations for the new company, oversaw an extensive acquisition and divestiture activity and managed the pension fund. He was the key financial figure in DDC's successful initial public offering in 1993. Mr. Grubb earned a BA from Thiel College in 1966 and an MBA degree from Kent State University in 1968. In 1984 he completed Harvard University's Post Management Development Program. Early in his career at General Motors Mr. Grubb went on military leave and served as an officer in the Army in Vietnam. Mr. Grubb is a Director of Minds, a charity supporting mental illness awareness in high schools, an Advisory Board Member of SupplySolution, Inc. and President-elect of the Harvard Business School Club of Detroit.
