JOSEPH P. HENICAN, III, is vice chairman of the Board of Directors and
Chief Executive Officer of Stewart Enterprises, Inc. Henican has been on
the Company's Board of Directors since 1984, and has served as vice
chairman since May 1991. He has been actively involved in the Company's
ongoing acquisitions and mergers. Admitted to the bar in 1974, Henican
received his Juris Doctorate from the Tulane University School of Law.
At Tulane, he was a member of the Moot Court Board of Judges. Henican
also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Fordham
University. A seasoned veteran in the practice of law, Henican has been
a partner in the firm Henican, James & Cleveland for more than two
decades. Throughout his prestigious law career, he has dedicated himself
to all aspects of the law. Henican retains membership in many
professional, civic and social organizations including the American Bar
Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association and the New Orleans Bar
Association. Stewart Enterprises, Inc. is the third largest provider of
funeral home and cemetery services and products in North America. The
Company currently owns and operates properties throughout North America,
Europe, the Pacific Rim and South America. Stewart stock is publicly
