JOSEPH R. MARTIN has more than 20 years of experience in the
semiconductor and semiconductor equipment industries. Prior to his
current position as Executive Vice President and CFO for Fairchild
Semiconductor International Corporation, he was Vice President of
Finance, Worldwide Operations, for National Semiconductor, with
responsibilities for all operating divisions, manufacturing sites, and
corporate financial planning. Previously, Mr. Martin was Senior Vice
President and Chief Financial Officer of VTC Incorporated. He began his
career at Fairchild in 1979 as Manager of Financial Planning and
Analysis for the Logic division and subsequently held various senior
financial positions for the corporation. Mr. Martin served as a Captain
in the United States Army for six years, serving two tours in the
Republic of Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. He holds a BS in Aeronautics
from Embry-Riddle University, and an MA from the University of Maine. He
is a member of Fairchild's Board of Directors and is also on the Boards
of ChipPAC, Incorporated, and Brooks Automation. Profile
TWST: Could we begin with a brief historical sketch of FairchildSemiconductor and then a picture of the company at the present time?
Mr. Martin: The original Fairchild Semiconductor is
