JOHN A. SCHOFIELD is Chairman of the Board, President and Chief
Executive Officer of Advanced Fibre Communications, Inc. (AFC') He has
over 30 years of general management, sales, marketing, operations and
engineering experience in the global data and telecommunications
industry and was elected to serve as Advanced Fibre Communications'
Chairman of the Board in October 2001. Mr. Schofield joined AFC in March
1999 as President and Chief Executive Officer and was appointed to the
Board of Directors in May 1999. From 1995 to 1999, Mr. Schofield held
several senior management positions with ADC Telecommunications, Inc.,
including President of the Integrated Solutions group, which provided
turnkey system solutions to telecommunications providers such as
regional Bell operating companies (RBOCs), competitive access providers
(CAPs), interexchange carriers (IXCs) and competitive local exchange
carriers (CLECs). Prior to joining ADC, Mr. Schofield was Senior Vice
President of Sales and Marketing for Telex Communications, Inc., a
leading manufacturer of professional audio, broadcast communication,
tape duplication, multimedia, aviation RF and hearing instrument
products that are marketed throughout the US and in more than 100
countries. Mr. Schofield, who received his Bachelor's degree in
Electrical Engineering from NSW Institute of Technology (Sydney,
Australia), is also a Director of Integrated Device Technology. Profile
