JOHN F. GIFFORD is Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of
Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. A founder of Maxim, Mr. Gifford has
served as Chairman since 1991 after serving as the company's President
since its incorporation in April 1983. Mr. Gifford received a Bachelor's
degree in Electrical Engineering in 1963 from the University of
California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He started his career in the
semiconductor industry in 1964 with Fairchild Semiconductor where he
later became the company's first Director of Analog Products. In 1968,
Mr. Gifford co-founded Advanced Micro Devices and remained Vice
President Marketing and Planning until he left to become Senior Vice
President, then President/CEO, of Intersil, Inc. He is founder and
President of J. Leal Farms and founder and President of Enslie
Industries. Mr. Gifford was nominated for National Entrepreneur of the
Year by Arthur Young in 1988. Mr. Gifford is active in numerous
