JOHN F. FIEDLER is Chairman of the Board of Directors of
BorgWarner Inc., as well as a Director of the company. He most
recently served as Chief Executive Officer of the company, having
been named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in January 1995.
Prior to that, he served as President and Chief Operating
Officer. Before joining BorgWarner in June 1994, Mr. Fiedler was
Executive Vice President of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
where he was responsible for North American Tires. Mr. Fiedler's
29-year career with Goodyear included numerous sales, marketing
and manufacturing positions in the US and the Far East. He also
served as President of Retread Systems Company and Kelly
Springfield Tire Company, both divisions of Goodyear. Mr. Fiedler
earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Kent State
University in 1960 and, as a Sloan Fellow, received his Master's
degree in Business from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
in 1979. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Roadway
Express, Mohawk Industries and Cooper Tire & Rubber Company. He
is also a member of the Kent State Centennial Commission and on
the Board of Trustees of the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI.
Chicago-based BorgWarner is a product leader in highly engineered
components and systems for vehicle powertrain applications
worldwide. The company operates manufacturing and technical
facilities in 43 locations in 14 countries. Customers include
Ford, DaimlerChrysler, General Motors, Toyota, Honda,
