JOEL P. MOSKOWITZ is Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer,
President, and principal shareholder of Ceradyne, Inc. Ceradyne is an
advanced technical ceramic corporation, co-founded in 1967 by Mr.
Moskowitz. Ceradyne has grown from its founding to become a publicly
held corporation, with three domestic manufacturing locations
fabricating and marketing advanced technical ceramic products and
components for defense, industrial, automotive/diesel and commercial
applications. Mr. Moskowitz obtained a BS in Ceramic Engineering from
Alfred University in 1961 and an MBA from the University of Southern
California in 1967. After serving as an Officer in the U.S. Army Missile
Command and as a Research Engineer for Interpace Corporation, Mr.
Moskowitz' entire career has been devoted to the development of advanced
technical ceramics for a wide range of applications. Mr. Moskowitz is a
member of the Board of Trustees of Alfred University. He is a member of
several professional organizations, including the American Ceramic
Society and the National Institute of Ceramic Engineers. Because of his
entrepreneurial background, Mr. Moskowitz has served on various academic
and institutional boards, including prior service on the Advisory Board
of Clemson's College of Engineering, and was named the Ernst and Young
1997 Entrepreneur of the Year for Orange County manufacturing. Mr.
Moskowitz's technical focus has been the development and
commercialization of advanced structural ceramics for consumer,
