JIMMY C. TALLENT is President and Chief Executive Officer of United
Community Banks, Inc. Under his leadership, United Community Banks has
become one of the top bank holding companies in Georgia. Mr. Tallent has
over 25 years of experience in banking. He joined Union County Banks as
President in Blairsville in 1984. In 1999, he was presented the
prestigious GEDA Spirit of Georgia Award. This annual award is presented
to a Georgia business executive who has demonstrated superior ability,
originality, potential impact and courage in business development.
Additionally, Georgia Trend magazine named him one of the 100 most
influential Georgians in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Mr. Tallent serves on the
Board of Directors for the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult
Education, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Global Health Action
Board. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Trustees for Young
Harris College in Young Harris, Georgia, and was appointed to the
