JEFFREY B. LANE is President and Chief Executive Officer of Neuberger
Berman, Inc. He joined Neuberger Berman, LLC in July 1998 as a
Principal and Chief Administrative Officer. Mr. Lane was previously with
Travelers Group as Vice Chairman, working closely with the Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer in the management of the company's various
administrative functions and operating units. He was responsible for the
human resources, corporate communications and investor relations
functions. Before assuming those responsibilities in early 1996, he was
Vice Chairman of the company's Smith Barney subsidiary, responsible for
asset management, mutual funds, international, futures and commodities
divisions. Prior to his affiliation with Travelers Group, Mr. Lane spent
his career, since 1969, with Shearson Lehman Brothers and its
predecessor firms ' certain businesses of which were combined with Smith
Barney in 1993. From 1987 to 1989, he served as Shearson's President and
Chief Operating Officer and was on the Board of Directors from 1982 to
1989. Prior to that he had been the firm's Chief Operating Officer,
administrator of its capital markets division, and in various management
positions in institutional sales, taxable fixed income trading and risk
arbitrage. He began his career as a securities analyst in a predecessor
firm to Shearson. Mr. Lane is a graduate of New York University and
holds an MBA from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
He is a director of the North Shore/Long Island Jewish Health System,
Director of the National Academy of Finance and of the New York City
