J. PATRICK GALLAGHER, JR. is President and CEO of Arthur J. Gallagher &
Co., the world's fourth largest insurance broker, with a network of
producers, consultants, financial specialists and third-party
administrators in more than 200 offices in seven countries and
correspondent brokers in 100 countries. Mr. Gallagher began his career
with the company in 1974, as a Production Account Executive and was
promoted to Vice President-Operations in 1985. In 1990, he was named
President and COO and in 1995, was appointed Chief Executive Officer by
the Board of Directors. In addition to his corporate responsibilities,
Mr. Gallagher is a Director of Boys Hope/Girls Hope, a charitable
organization serving disadvantaged children in the Chicago area. He is
also on the Board of Advisors for Catholic Charities. He additionally
serves on the Board of Founding Directors of the International Insurance
Foundation and is a member of The Economic Club of Chicago. Mr.
Gallagher holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Cornell
