J.herbert Boydstun – Hibernia Corporation (hib)

J. HERBERT BOYDSTUN is President and Chief Executive Officer Director of Hibernia Corporation and Hibernia National Bank. Mr. Boydstun, joined Hibernia in 1994 when First Bancorp of Louisiana, which he served as Chairman, merged with Hibernia. During his 17 years of leadership at First Bancorp, the northeast Louisiana banking company grew from $75 million in assets to $214 million. At Hibernia, Mr. Boydstun started as Northeast Regional Chairman and later became Southwest Regional Chairman. In June 2000, he was named Chief Community Banking Executive, assuming responsibility for Hibernia's community banking markets. The community arena includes retail and small-business banking. Mr. Boydstun remained in that position until December 2000, when he was appointed President and Chief executive Officer. He has been a member of the company's Board of Directors since 1994 and is headquartered in New Orleans. A native of Louisville, Mississippi, Mr. Boydstun received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Mississippi in 1969 and a Master's degree from Louisiana State University in 1972. He also is a 1979 graduate of the School of Banking of the South at LSU. He began his banking career as a manager trainee in 1972 at Guaranty Bank and Trust in Alexandria, Louisiana. As part of that training, he gained experience as a teller. Mr. Boydstun serves as a founding trustee for the Ogden Museum of Southern Art Foundation and is a member of the University of New Orleans Foundation Board of Directors and Metairie Park Country Day Business Advisory Council. He is also a member of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, Financial Services Roundtable, United Way for the Greater New Orleans Area Board of Trustees, Business Council of New Orleans, the New Orleans Museum of Art Board of Trustees and the Committee of 100 for Economic Development.
