Robert E. Killen is Chairman and CEO of The Killen Group, Inc., a registered
investment adviser founded in 1982. The Killen Group manages stock and bond
portfolios for individuals, retirement plans, trusts, foundations and other
institutions. The Killen Group is also adviser to The Berwyn Funds, a family of
no-load mutual funds, which includes the Berwyn Fund, Berwyn Income Fund and
Berwyn Cornerstone Fund. From 1969 to 1982, he was a partner in the investment
advisory company, Compu-Val Management which was based in Wilmington, Delaware
and was the predecessor to The Killen Group. Associated with The Killen Group is
Berwyn Financial Services, a financial brokerage operation. He serves as
Chairman of this company that was founded in 1986. During his career as an
investment adviser he has served on two public companies' Board of Directors. In
1987 he served on the Board of Tri-State Motor, a Joplin, Missouri-based carrier
of explosive materials. This firm was acquired and now operates as a private
company. More recently, from 1996 to 2008, he served on the Westmoreland Coal
Company's Board of Directors. Westmoreland is the oldest publicly traded coal
company in the United States. He retired from the Board in 2008 and served as
Chairman in the last year of his tenure. From 1966 to 1976 he worked at General
Electric's Space Division and was involved in the Apollo Program as an engineer
and program manager. He also spent six years during this period working on
alternative energy systems, including wind power systems. From 1963 to 1966 he
worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in
Chemical Engineering from the City College of New York as well as a Master's in
Engineering Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic. Profile
