Chris Fowler became President and Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Western Bank — “CWB” or “CWB Group” — in March 2013, concurrent with his appointment as Chair of CWB’s executive committee and his election to the board of directors. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Fowler served as President and Chief Operating Officer, where he was primarily responsible for banking operations and credit risk management. Mr. Fowler started his career in commercial and corporate banking in 1985. He joined CWB in 1991 to assist in building the bank’s commercial loan portfolio in Vancouver and moved to Edmonton in 1995 to join the credit risk management group where he held progressively senior positions. He was appointed as Executive Vice President, Banking in 2008. Mr. Fowler currently sits on the Canadian Bankers Association’s executive council, the Art Gallery of Alberta’s board of directors and is a campaign cabinet member with the United Way of Alberta Capital Region.
