Richard F. Clement Jr. is a professional geologist with a Master of Science degree. He has been in the uranium business since 1969 when he was with Mobil Oil Corp. during the heydays of uranium exploration in the U.S. His career spanned the gamut from field geologist to manager of operations in the U.S. and culminated as V.P. Exploration for a Mobil affiliate in Australia. After 16 years with Mobil, he left to join a small U.S. uranium mining company, Uranium Resources, Inc. With this company he was head of geologic activities and was part of the team that brought several successful in situ uranium mines on stream. In early 2005, at the beginning of the resurgence in uranium, Mr. Clement was instrumental in acquiring the Dewey Burdock Project in South Dakota. He was aware of the history of the project and knew it to be one of the most favorable opportunities for in situ development. He and several other individuals formed Powertech Uranium Corp. as a public Canadian entity for the development of Dewey Burdock and other projects that they acquired. In 2014, Powertech merged with Azarga Resources to create the entity, Azarga Uranium Corp. This move brought new financing and excitement to the combined corporation. In February of 2015, Mr. Clement stepped down as President and CEO but was asked to stay on as Deputy Chairman of the board. In this capacity he is available to advise the new corporation in its pursuit of all permits and bringing all its properties to successful development. Profile
