IAN MENZIES-GOW is the Executive Chairman of Geest Plc. Mr Menzies-Gow's
arrival at Geest marked a return to the food and drink industry after 10
years' absence. He joined the Imperial Group in 1970 and fulfilled a
number of senior operational roles in their food businesses, culminating
in the role of Managing Director of HP Foods in 1984. The take-over of
Imperial by Hanson offered Mr Menzies-Gow a further change in career
direction; as a result he has run or been responsible for many
companies. These includes a South African battery manufacturer, a
vitamin supplement company, a major high street retailer, a leading UK
brickmaker, the biggest aggregates company in Britain and the public
flotation of a significant British housebuilder. He joined Geest in
1996, as Executive Chairman, following Hanson's de-merger. He became
Chairman of the Chilled Food Association in October 1999. Profile
