GEORGE MCMILLAN is Chief Executive Officer of CMGI, Inc., with
leadership responsibility for the strategic direction and operations of
the company. As CEO, he also chairs CMGI's Operating and Executive
Committees, the two executive management bodies which oversee company
performance and financial management, as well as maintain responsibility
for cross-company policy and strategy implementation. Mr. McMillian
first joined CMGI as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer in July 2001
from BMG Direct, a unit of Bertelsmann AG, where he served as President
and Chief Executive Officer for more than four years. Prior to joining
BMG Direct, he served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial
Officer of Renaissance Solutions, an IT and management consulting firm
providing innovative business and technology services. There he helped
guide the firm from 15 members to more than 300 professionals and
through three public offerings of its shares. He also guided the company
through 13 consecutive quarters of rising revenue and accelerating
profit and earnings per share performance. Prior to joining Renaissance
Solutions, he was the President and Chief Operating Officer of Michigan
Bulb Company, the largest horticultural direct marketer in the US and
Canada, with a customer base of more than 10 million. During his tenure,
revenues grew more than 80% in three years and market share increased
from 16%-25%. In addition to his aforementioned work, he founded his own
management consulting firm, McMillan and Associates, and from 1984
through 1989 served as the Chief Operating Officer of Bronner, Slosberg
Humphrey Associates (now know as Digitas), a Boston-based direct
marketing and advertising agency. He began his career as a management
consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. Mr. McMillian received a BS
in Economics from Stanford University, where he was elected Phi Beta
Kappa; an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School; and a Juris
Doctor, cum laude, from Harvard Law School. Profile
